2020 Ch Cissac, Cru Bourgeois, Haut Médoc

Aidan Bell, DBM Wines
Justifiably popular, Cissac has a strong and loyal following in the uk for its classic Médoc style. The 2020 has deep colour, with good density of ripe fruit, quite present but succuelts tannins. The tannins need time to settle but in time will integrate with the ripe supple fruit.

Markus Del Monego MW 92/100
Deep purple colour with violet hue and black core. Elegant yet expressive nose with aroma reminiscent of blackcurrants, liquorice, violets, ripe dark stone fruit, mild spices in the background. On the palate well-structured and balanced with fine tannins, ripe acidity, excellent fruit and a very pleasant aftertaste backed by a seductive 'sweetness' of the fruit and subtle oak. A quite classic vintage with freshness, convicting length and great precision.

James Suckling 90-91/100
A medium-bodied red with blackberries, black olives and some herbal undertones. Medium finish. A little hollow in the center palate, but should fill out with the elevage.

Neal Martin 86-88/100
The 2020 Cissac takes a few minutes to really coalesce in the glass, eventually revealing blackberry, raspberry, freshly tilled loam and tobacco scents. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly coarse tannins on the entry, moderate depth and fine acidity, though it feels a little simple on the finish compared to other vintages. Drink 2026-2035
