Here at DBM we believe that wine knowledge should be accessible to all, which is why we offer a variety of tasting opportunities for our customers. The wine world is vast and we appreciate that it can be tough to know where to start when you want to learn more, so we have tasting events designed to help improve your knowledge and understanding, no matter where you are on your wine journey.
Throughout the year we run weekly in-store tasting events that each differ in theme and scope, from beginners ‘Introduction to Wine’ sessions through to focused regional masterclasses. These tastings are hosted by our knowledgeable staff, all who hold one or more certificates from the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET).
We are lucky enough to host regular tastings led by winemakers and brand ambassadors for many of the wines and spirits that we sell. The level of knowledge passed on in these events about specific products is unparalleled and are a must for those who are looking to gain a deeper insight into production methods, regions and producer ethos.
In November each year, we host our very own Portfolio tasting across two locations in Bristol and London. On these evenings we are joined by our distributors and show over 100 wines and spirits that are available to purchase. A large, informal event, this is a great opportunity to taste a vast selection of wines and chat with knowledgeable brand specialists who will be on hand to talk you through the different wines on show.
For those that are Bristol-based, we offer the opportunity to hire us to run your own private tasting in store. We will work with you to produce a bespoke tasting event based on a theme of your choice.
If you don’t live in Bristol, we’ve still got you covered! We can run online tastings through Zoom and send out bottles of wine in advance to taste together on the night. Alternatively, if you want to run your own wine tasting for friends and family, we can put together tasting packs and information for you to follow in your own time.

For Store, Producer and Bristol-based Private tastings, each event lasts for 1 - 2 hours and takes place in our Clifton shop on a weekday evening, typically Wednesdays or Thursdays. Expect to taste between 6 - 10 wines depending on the event’s theme, and we’ll provide regional maps and tasting sheets to help make each event as immersive and engaging as possible. These are seated events, and the number of attendees is limited to 16.
