"95 Points - Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate, June 2021
The full-bodied, rich 2019 Kupe Pinot Noir is a lovely example of how size doesn't have to mean a loss of elegance. Bold black cherry and plum flavors combine with nuances of cola spice and mocha to yield ample complexity, while the palate is plush and velvety, seamlessly extending through a lingering finish. While delicious now, I expect it will drink well for more than a decade. Drink 2021 - 2034."
Nestled amongst the undulating hills of Martinborough, in the gaze of the Aorangi Ranges, Larry McKenna, founded Escarpment winery in 1999, building a phenomenal reputation as the ‘Prince of Pinot’, crafting an impressive array of highly regarded wines. In 2019 Larry handed over the baton to Tim Bourne to continue his legacy when the winery was acquired by Torbreck Vintners from the Barossa Valley. Tim had previously worked a vintage at Escarpment and consequently been inspired to go on to study Oenology in Hawkes Bay.
