The Doppler Winery is something very special, perched on the crest of a hill in the northern, Podravska region of Slovenia, (Styria) right on the Austrian border. The winery appears to be a modest, single story building with 360 degree views, but hides the fact that a modern, state of the art facility is 7m beneath your feet, carved into the hill.
With warm, dry summers and cold winters, it’s the perfect situation for a vineyard. The family’s passion for enhancing what nature has provided with minimal intervention is evident - they are practicing organic though not certified, pick everything by hand, and with the help of modern winery facilities are able to prectice minimal intervention to produce wines of remarkable clarity and expression.
The estate has been run for the last two generations exclusively by women. Michela the owner and her three Daughters Lina ( the winemaker), Lana and Lena
