2016 Simonroth Lemberger, Weingut Schnaitmann, Wurtemberg

Tasting Notes

"In the glass this Lemberger is an elegant deep violet red. The nose is open revealing ripe cherries, blackberries, liquorice and vanilla. The fine minerality shows some flinty notes and spices of bay leaf, juniper and fresh ground black pepper round out this Lemberger’s complex flavour spectrum. Juicy on the palate, the fruit sweetness is delicate with a refreshing minerality and balanced acidity and tannin structure."

Vineyard Information

The family Schnaitmann was cultivating wine grapes for over 500 years in Fellbach. But the wine estate was founded not until 1997, because Rainer Schnaitmann decided to make his own wines instead of delivering the grapes to the local wine-cooperative. In the early 1990s, convinced that the regional vineyards concealed even more potential, Rainer studied oenology and traveled to New Zealand and the Trentino to learn how to make great wines. In 2006 he was invited to join the VDP (Association of German Prädikat Wine Estates). His Pinot noir and Sauvignon Blanc have achieved huge success. With every vintage Rainer Schnaitmann still strives for the creation of distinctive wines.
