The landscape of Maranges is breathtakingly stunning and the small village of Dezize, where the Charleux domaine is situated, is perhaps the prettiest. Founded in 1894 by his great grandfather, the estate is owned by Vincent Charleux and covers 12 hectares. As with many of these estates, when the new generation took over there was a move away from just selling the production to the cooperative, to sell the wines with their own identity. Today 100 % of the production is bottled as estate wine. The 1er Cru reds are subtly oak aged with about 20% new barrel.
