"96 Antonio Galloni, vinous.com, May 2022
The 2012 Comtes de Champagne is gorgeous. Warm and resonant in the glass, the 2012 Comtes shows all the allure that makes this vintage so appealing. The combination of bright citrus, mineral and floral notes typical of Comtes, enhanced by the soft contours of the vintage, makes for an inviting, open-knit Champagne that is quite showy right out of the gate. Light tropical accents on the finish add an exotic flair. Usually I recommend cellaring just-released Comtes, but that won’t be necessary here. Drink 2022 - 2042."
Pierre Taittinger purchased a long established champagne house in 1932 and rebranded it under his own name. Taittinger is now one of the largest producers in the region and amongst the last big family-owned houses with more than 280 hectares of vineyards.
Their prestige cuvée 'Comtes de Champagne' is made entirely from Chardonnay from the best Grand Cru vineyards in the Côte des Blancs region. Only produced when the harvest is of exceptional quality, the Champagne is matured in the family cellars in Reims for a minimum of eight years prior to release.
