Francois Raquillet has always been recognised for his talent, ever since his debut vintages in the early 90s, when he was just an up-and-coming vigneron to watch.
Today, he is recognised as, possibly, the best producer in Mercurey. Francois, the 11th generation of his family to grow grapes in the village, has 10 hectares of superbly sited, mostly old vines.
He believes in low yields, mature (rather than super-ripe) fruit and a severe selection at the sorting table. The depth, richness and concentration which characterise his wines are the direct result.
