2015 Mount Edward, Morrison Vineyard Riesling, Central Otago, New Zealand

Tasting Notes

"A delicate bouquet of limes and exotic florals with perfume nuances and a steeliness on the nose. The flavours of limes, jasmine and minerals are interwoven through a soft-textured, smooth palate kept fresh with mouth watering acidity and a long finish. The finesse and delicacy of the wine is its highlight.

93pts Decanter
Lifted purity of lime zest and Granny Smith apple spells both seriousness and refreshment. With some evolution, this is slowly hitting its stride. The palate shows crystalline acidity, which creates lots of tension between apple sweetness and zesty thrill. There is so much lime that you might almost think this finishes dry.

Vineyard Information

There are many characters in New Zealand winemaking and one of the largest is Duncan Forsyth. Maverick or genius, planting vines in the cold of Otago takes some nerve. These vineyards are on the edge of what is possible, the climate is so marginal. With a biodynamic approach and the reassuring chaos of a smallholding full of pigs and chickens the wines, especially the exquisite Riesling, win awards and praise worldwide proving that we should all try to be little bit different.
