An old favourite that now regularly challenges the quality found in junior Cru Classé at a fraction of their price. This is a powerful, tannic wine with huge intensity that has rich fruit and is very long and fresh on the finish. It bears comparison with their outstanding 2010, but has the lighter fresher touch of 2016 - beautifully defined with lovely silky tannins.
Jancis Robinson 16/20; Concentrated healthy crimson. Attractive, ripe leafiness on the nose (not meagre). Good balance though slightly muted. .Drink 2024-2032
Chateau La Tour-de-By is a 74 hectare property overlooking the Gironde at Begadan planted with 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot. The wines are very robust with classic earthy Medoc fruit and can age quite happily for 10-12 years if cellared correctly.
