"Josh Raynolds, Vinous.com 95/100
Saturated violet color. Powerful, mineral-accented cherry, blackberry, licorice and -garrigue- scents, along with a hint of candied flowers. Deep, penetrating and alluringly sweet, offering cherry liqueur, dark berry, lavender, exotic spice and cola flavors that are given spine by a core of juicy acidity. In a concentrated yet lively, fluid style. Finishes extremely long and precise, with building tannins and a powerful echo of spiciness and florality. Drink 2026 to 2036
Grape/Blend
35% Mourvèdre, 30% Grenache, 10% Counoise, 10% Syrah, 10% of Terret, Vaccarèse, Muscardin, Clairette, Picpoul, Picardan, Bourboulenc, Roussanne, Grenache Blanc, 5% Cinsault"
Arguably the benchmark to which all other Châteauneuf is measured; full-bodied, tannic and rich with considerable power

The Perrin family needs no introduction to Rhône wine lovers, such has been the success of their work at their domaine in the northern reaches of the appellation. Despite the weather challenges of 2017, 2018 and 2019, the classic cuvée maintain a legendary reputation in Châteauneuf and have even improved on it. Give these vintages some time in bottle, especially the 2019. In the rarefied world of wine collectors, this bottling’s excellence is often overshadowed by the existence of the Mourvèdre-driven Hommage à Jacques Perrin.
