2018 Bourgogne Pinot Noir, Château de Chamilly, Côte Chalonnaise

Tasting Notes

Lovely transparent ruby, the bouquet is full of ripe raspberries with super lift and energy, whilst the palate has the sucrosity of the vintage and a lovely volume of fruit. Ripe, succulent tannins round off the finish. A super expression of Burgundy that is already delicious or can be held for 3 to 4 years.

Vineyard Information

Ensconced in a beautiful secluded valley in the Côte Chalonnaise lies Chateau de Chamilly, an achingly beautiful 17th century house built on the foundations of an even older fortified farm.  The Desfontaine family have managed it for 12 generations and now, Veronique Desfontaine and her two sons, Xavier and Arnaud are on a mission to restore the chateau and revitalise the vineyards. Their reputation is growing and their 2018s are delicious.

The vineyards are managed lutte raisonnee with no chemical herbicides or fertilizers, wild yeast is used and the red wines are neither fined nor filtered. The results are beautifully balanced wines that perfectly express the terroir of this magical place.
