"Aidan Bell
Very impressive this year, dense, fleshy bold Merlot, there is super density and very good freshness, tannins give structure but are very well covered by the fruit.
James Suckling 90-91/100;
Plenty of blueberry and blackberry character with black olives. Some walnut shell. Medium to full body, chewy tannins and a fresh finish.
Antonio Galloni, Vinous.com 89-91/100
The 2019 Hauts-Conseillants is elegant and refined. Pretty floral aromas lift from the glass. Blue and purplish fruit is accented by licorice and spice notes in a mid-weight, expressive Lalande de Pomerol. The 2019 is understated, yet it is persistent all the way through to the finish."
Planted in the 1970's by the Figeac-Bourotte family, Les Hauts-Conseillants vineyard now has an average age in excess of 30+ years. The 10 hectares are divided between 6 ha of sandy-clay topsoil, with free draining gravelly subsoil (Chevrol plateau in Néac), and 4 ha on a gravelly outcrop that contains 10% clay (in Lalande). Planted 90% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc.
