2015 Ch Lalande-Borie, St Julien HALVES 37.5cl

Tasting Notes

"Neal Martin 91/100
The 2015 Lalande-Borie has a clean and composed bouquet with blackberry, cedar and light floral tones, well defined and perhaps one of the prettiest that I have encountered in recent years. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, very harmonious with neatly embroidered new oak. I admire the precision here and that graphite seam toward the finish lends both freshness and an almost Pauillac-like personality. Excellent. Anticipated maturity: 2020 - 2035. Vinous.com

Vineyard Information

Chateau Lalande Borie was created by Jean-Eugene Borie (proprietor of Ch Ducru-Beaucaillou) when in 1970 he purchased 18 hectares of vines from Chateau Lagrange and 12 hectares from other growers. The 25 hectares of vineyards are inland and neighbours to Ch Talbot, Ch Gruaud-Larose and Ch Lagrange. Their gravel and clay soils are planted with Cabernet Sauvignon (50%), Merlot (40%) and Cabernet Franc (10%)., as they have been re-planted the amount of Merlot has been increased to better match the amount of clay in the soil.

Jean-Eugene’s son – Bruno Borie, and daughter – Sabine Coiffe, now run Lalande-Borie alongside their other other family estates. The style here is for elegant silky wines with lovely purity and silky freshness.
