"A deep purple wine. The nose is rich with complex perfume and red berry fruits that are peculiar to this grape variety. The palate is firm and full but balanced, and the finish is persistent and enticing"
Dino, Diana, and Gianni Bertolino have picked up the family estate and devoted themselves to updating and improving the vineyards of their ancient holdings. The success and plaudits they are receiving are well earned and a reflexion of the hard work and skill they have put in.
"Nizza" is a sub-region comprising 18 small communities in Monferrato which have been approved for their favourable exposure. To qualify for Nizza it must be exclusively
produced from 100% Barbera grapes and only when a year is considered to be “a good vintage”. Olim Bauda’s “Nizza” vineyard’s yield is less then 49 Hl per hectare. Grapes are selected by hand between the first and second week of October and after the first fermentation goes into French oak barriques for 15 months. After bottling the wine rests and matures for at least another year before release.
The result is astonishing – a real treat.
