2006 Ch Laforge, St Emilion

Tasting Notes

"Neal Martin 90/100
Tasted at the château, the 2006 Laforge has certainly lasted better than the Teyssier, though no surprise there. Blackberry and wild hedgerow, nice definition, a touch of violet emerging with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with a soft entry, but it is held together by a keen line of acidity. Rounded in the mouth with smudged blackberry mixed with sage and white pepper, this Laforge is not going to improve further, but at ten-years-old, it has held up well. Tasted March 2016. Published May 2016, The Wine Advocate

Steven Spurrier 4 stars
Intense, fragrant, fleshy fruit, tobacco and green tea flavours, very attractive deep Merlot picked at perfect ripeness. 2010-18." Decanter Magazine

Vineyard Information

Jonathan Maltus purchased Chateau Laforge in 1998, having already acquired Chateau Teyssier and built up Le Dome. Laforge covers approximately 6 hectares and is largely planted to Merlot with a small percentage of Cabernet Franc. As there is no winery at Ch Laforge the wine is made in the cellars at Chateau Teyssier. Laforge uses up to 80% new oak for its elevage.
