"GOLD MEDAL GILBERT & GAILLARD 2015
The wood aging and the fruit tannins are integrating well, giving a wine that is bright, packed with fruit, that will age well over the medium term. The cuvée undergoes elevage in a combination of 40% barrel and 60% in vat.
The wine has a complex aroma woven from notes of blueberry, blueberry, blackberry and dark fig, harmoniously accentuated with hints of cinnamon and coriander, caramel, vanilla and cocoa. On the palate it is full, complex, rich, velvety, with rich fruit tones, silky tannins, ending with a long-sounding finish with a mineral hue."
In the early 1980s, Mr. Denis Ducos took over Haut-Grignon from his parents with his wife, Léa. The estate is close to Valeyrac in the northern Médoc and has undergone considerable renovation and re-planting, and been enlarged by buying parcels of old vines. The Haut-Grignon label is reserved for wine produced from the oldest vines that are harvested by hand at full ripeness. Ch Haut-Grigon has 11 hectares of vineyards with an average age of 25 years that are planted with 67% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Merlot, 2% Petit Verdot
