"95+ Points, Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate
This great terroir sandwiched between Vieux Château Certan, Petrus and La Fleur Petrus, on the high plateau of Pomerol, has been owned for many years by the Barrau-Badar family. Beautiful coffee, cedar wood, Xmas fruitcake, black cherry and blackcurrant fruit jump from the glass of this full-bodied, rich, multi-layered, and very impressive Certan de May. I don’t remember it showing this well in barrel and post-bottling, but it is strutting its stuff at age 10, and has a good 20 years of upside left to it. This is a beauty. I especially admire the layered, textural style of the wine. Drink it over the next 20 years. Drink 2015-2035. Reviewed June 2015"
Château Certan de May is named after a Scottish family who established themselves in Pomerol in the 17th century. It is situated on the Pomerol plateau between Vieux-Chateaux Certan and Pétrus, and directly opposite Le Pin. The vineyards are planted with 70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon and have an average age of 45 years. The soils are sand and gravel over clay. The wines are aged in oak barrels for 16 months, 40% of which are new.
