... is a blend of 50% Touriga Nacional, 40% Touriga Franca and 10% Tinta Roriz, aged in a 50/50 mixture of new and old oak. In this array of specialty wines from Sogrape, this most iconic and traditional label is the least expensive and easily my favorite. This is a lovely vintage here. The wine has purity and it is expressive, becoming slightly earthy as the ripe fruit integrates. It is also a bit steely while remaining rich and fragrant. There are certainly some powerful tannins here, more and more apparent with air. It needs to be cellared, but ultimately it should be beautifully balanced and quite harmonious. It is a lovely effort that should be a consensus favorite. Although harmonious enough to be almost approachable now, it is hardly at peak. Don’t waste your bottles. You would be well advised to put it away for a few years to give it a chance to settle down and evolve. Come back around 2016, give or take. There were 30,000 bottles produced. Drink 2014-2029."
