"AB - Evolved colour but still with good depth, the nose is beautiful classic cedary claret, this has the acidity of the vintage and the appellation which adds a lovely freshness to the whole. The palate is now fully mature with resolved integrated tannins and lovely Margaux finesse. Not the most persistent finish but overall a splendid glass of mature claret. Tasted May 2015"
In 1850, in the first edition of Bordeaux and its wines, Charles Cocks ranked Château La Lagune among the third growths. This position was confirmed and made official by the famous 1855 Classification. The 80 hectare vineyard, 60 hectares of which form a single block, faces in the ideal direction and is planted according to a traditional selection of grape varieties on an outcrop of sand and fine gravel. The wines grown in this soil are characterised by the great finesse and elegance specific to this terroir. The harvest is done by hand, followed by very selective sorting of the grapes. A new vat room makes it possible to transport the grapes by gravity flow into temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. The wines are then aged the traditional way in French oak barrels (50% new oak every year) for approximately 15 months. ©ugcb
