"93 Points, Stephen Tanzer, International Wine Cellar
Inky purple. Intense aromas of blackberry, licorice, violet and bitter chocolate, with a bright mineral overtone. Dense, sappy and vibrant, with impressive energy to its black fruit compote, licorice and violet pastille flavors. Finishes with lively acidity, insinuating spiciness and broad, youthfully chewy tannins. This is definitely built for the long haul., March 2013"
Bernard Burgaud took over the running of the domaine after his father died in 1980. From the 2 hectares of vines then Bernard had now doubled the holdings to 4 hectares. His vineyards are split between the steep inclines guarding the slopes above the town of Ampuis (66%) and the flat plateau (34%) which has only been planted since the 1960s. His cellars are located in the small hamlet of Le Champin, overlooking the Côte Brune.
