2019 Corton Charlemagne Grand Cru, Domaine Dubreuil Fontaine

Tasting Notes

"93 Points, Allen Meadows, Burghound.com
Note: from two parcels in En Charlemagne that total .7 ha
Discreet but still easily perceptible wood sets off ripe and very fresh aromas of green apple, citrus, acacia and mineral reduction. There is excellent density to the tautly muscular and sleek flavors that possess a caressing mid-plate that contrasts with the chiseled, clean, dry and youthfully austere finale. Patience strongly advised. Drink: 2029+. Tasted: Jun 10, 2021

92 Points - Neal Martin, Vinous.com
The 2019 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru has a taut, quite stony bouquet of yellow flowers and yellow plum. The palate is medium-bodied with a fine bead of acidity, touches of lemon curd and hints of acacia honey toward the finish. Excellent. This is very well crafted. Drinking Window 2022 - 2030, October 2020

Vintage Description

Allen Meadows, Burghound.com
Christine Dubreuil described the 2019 vintage as one where "we didn't have any major climatic excesses but there was a bit of everything which, included frost, mildew, a troubled flowering and several periods of intense heat that dehydrated and concentrated the berries. We chose to begin picking on the 11th of September and the fruit could really not have been much cleaner with good ripeness levels, and potential alcohols came in between 13 and 14%. Yields though were another story as they were much smaller than what we realized in 2018. As to the wines, I have to say that I really love the 2019s; in fact, if it were theoretically possible to sign up for 10 years' worth of similar quality, I would do so today!" Dubreuil noted that the reds were bottled in January and February 2021.
