DOUBLE MAGNUM

Liquorice, dried herbs, blackcurrant and graphite notes. Bright and lively, almost searing acidity - a bitter citric element, orange rind, lemon juice and ripe strawberries all combining to give a zing to the expression with a really clean, tongue scraping minerality that edges the fine tannins. Feels well made, sculpted and intentional with clarity and a sense of easy enjoyment. It's structured, and tannins are at the fore, it just has an air of elegance to the expression with a streamlined core and enjoyable grip. Salty, tangy, fruity and fresh. The 2022 La Tour de By has an intense mocha and black tea-scented bouquet with decent delineation and touches of cedar emerging with time. The medium-bodied, harmonious and poised palate offers a touch of sapid black fruit leading to an elegant blackberry- and bilberry-scented finish. This is very fine. Chateau La Tour-de-By is a 74 hectare property overlooking the Gironde at Begadan planted with 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot. The wines are very robust with classic earthy Medoc fruit and can age quite happily for 10-12 years if cellared correctly.
Chateau La Tour de By is one of the oldest properties in the Médoc, founded in 1599, when it was known as La Roque de By. The current picturesque chateau was constructed in 1876 and is famous for the beautiful tower, once a lighthouse, that stands in the vineyards near the chateau. The stunning vineyards directly overlook the Gironde estuary and lie on the gravelly banks adjacent to the river and the Cailloux (pebbles), provide excellent drainage.
