Founded in 1917 in the Vinho Verde region, Calçada Wines is one of the oldest producers and is now the 3rd generation of the family to lead the business. In addition to producing high quality wines, Calçada is also synonymous with fine hospitality - Casa da Calçada is a XVI palace converted into a luxurious hotel - within the property they still proudly have what is considered the oldest vineyard in the region.
The grapes were hand-picked at the per fect ripenesspoint, coming from dif ferent plots and immediatelyprocessed in the cellar. After destemming and gentlecrushing, the grapes were sent to stainless steel vats,where alcoholic fermentation took place. During thisphase, gentle maceration takes place at a controlledtemperature. After fermentation, i t aged in 225L Frenchoak barrels for 9 months. Before bottling, the wine wasslightly stabilized and filtered
