"Jane Anson 90/100
Rosemary, sage and underbrush on the attack. Tight, extremely spicy, this feels full of freshly cut herbs with touches of earth. A cold start to the season meant late budding then a hot season later, giving an opulence in the final glass. This is bottled a year earlier than the others two reds, and is a little more open. Blending takes place after ageing, with ageing in a mix of oak barrels and cement. Decanter.com

2019 gives us a Le Volte dell’Ornellaia with great balance and expressivity. With its bright ruby-red colour, intense scents of red berries and rose petals are clearly distinguishable on the nose, while on the palate the taste is full-bodied and enveloping, characterised by dense tannins and a vibrant acidity which make this a highly pleasant and enjoyable wine."
Tenuta dell' Ornellaia is one of the world’s great wine estates and priced to match, however they have a hidden gem in their portfolio, their baby wine ‘Le Volte’, an approachable blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese. It is aged for 10 months in barrels previously used for Ornellaia and then concrete tanks, which Estate Director Axel Heinz says helps 'obtain the perfect balance between tannic structure and an expression of fresh fruit'.

The 2019 vintage represents a return to a more classic Bolgheri taste profile with greater fruit weight, structure and soft tannins. The spring season saw cool weather and rain, causing a two-week delay in the growing cycle. The temperatures warmed up considerably by June, and those delays were quickly overcome. Harvest started the second week of September and lasted until October 4th.
