Here the underlying fruit is hidden by notes of wood and firm reduction. Otherwise there is good richness to the generously proportioned and seductively textured medium weight flavors that possess solid length on the slightly less precise finish where a subtle touch of warmth emerges. Still this is also really quite good for its level though at present I prefer the straight villages. Drink from 2018
Light yet pleasing reduction on the nose. Fresh apple too. Then it opens out beautifully, peaches but not too exotic, very charming, citrus at the back! Salinity to finish. Drink from 2024-2028. An exceptional lieu-dit, directly below 1er Cru Champs Gains"

Thierry Pillot noted that "despite the fact that we didn't have hail in Chassagne in 2014 yields weren't especially abundant as there was hydric stress during the flowering that provoked significant shatter and we lost about 25% of the potential crop before we ever really started. We chose to begin picking on the 11th of September and brought in clean and ripe fruit that possessed solid acidities and potential alcohols that were in the 12.5 to 13% range. As to the style of the 2014s, I would describe them as a bit less concentrated than their 2013 counterparts with seductive textures, round flavors with good if not exceptional supporting acidities. Moreover they have so much energy that they're just refreshing to drink and I believe that most consumers will be seduced by their charm. If I had to choose another vintage that is similar I would probably suggest 2011 and the 2014s will likely age in the same fashion."
