""This stunning blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc boasts a dense ruby/purple color along with a big, sweet bouquet of black cherries, licorice, roasted herbs, smoke, and cassis. Elegant, medium to full-bodied, pure flavors reveal moderately high tannin, but superb concentration and richness." Robert Parker: 93+"
Vieux Château Certan is the oldest known estate in Pomerol, and dates back at least as far as the 16th century. Purchased in 1924 by Georges Thienpont, a wine merchant from Etikhove (Belgium), the property has been owned and managed by a family-owned company since 1957. The vines are in a single block located in the middle of the Pomerol plateau, world famous for its outstanding wines. The proportion of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon vines is very high for the appellation. The significant proportion of these two varieties goes back many years and did not change even though neighbouring estates turned almost exclusively to Merlot. ©ugcb
