In 1661, Pierre des Mesures de Rauzan, an important wine merchant in Bordeaux, acquired the vineyard and gave his name to the estate. For two centuries generations of the Rauzan family succeeded in the running of the property and the Rauzan-Segla wines grew in reputation in a remarkable way. This Margaux, ranked as a Second Growth, was reborn in 1994 when Chanel became its owner. At that point, everything was set in motion to restore the reputation and rank of this gem of the Margaux appellation. Painstaking soil preparation, pruning, handpicking, sorting of grape are some of the precautionary measures vital for the quality of the wines produced. ©ugcb
