"Gold medal - Concours General Agricole de Paris 2020
This wine displays a beautiful garnet red color with ruby reflections. Its bouquet evokes alternately red fruits, sweet spices and stewed fruits. It offers a silky character on the palate, freshness and liveliness with soft delicate tannins. A harmonious seductive wine with a long and delicate finish. Drink from 2021. A wine which has everything it takes to age beautifully over the next five years. The 2018 is a blend of 70% Merlot - 30% Cabernet Sauvignon"
Skilfully managed by Arnaud de Butler, Chateau de Trebiac lies on a gravel plateau at Portets, 35 km south of Bordeaux. Over the past five years, both the estate's vines and winery have been completely rehabilitated. 80% merlot, 20% cabernet sauvignon planted on deep Garonne gravel.
Integrated farming practices are used in the vineyard, with ploughing to maintain the soil, Medoc pruning, shoot-thinning and suckering, manual leaf-culling at fruit set. The harvest is destemmed, fermentation is done in stainless steel or cement vats at 28C-30C, with maceration of 18 days. The wine is then aged for 12 months in stainless steel vats. Light filtration before bottling at the chateau.
