2016 Ch Tour Chantecaille, Saint Emilion Grand Cru

Tasting Notes

""Tasted at Jean Baptiste's office in Libourne this was a revelation! The combination of a great vintage, a strong winemaking team and a well-sited chateau has delivered a beautifully balanced St Emilion in the classical mould. The colour is deep and the nose still cedary from the oak ageing. Whilst the palate is youthful, it has super purity and finesse and a long elegant finish" - Aidan Bell"

Vineyard Information

This estate is located in Saint Emilion in the locality of 'Chantecaille' hence its name, on a superb terroir on the borders of Pomerol near Château L'Evangile and Château Gazin and neighbour of Château La Dominique and Château Croque Michotte. It is also 400 meters from Petrus. The estate has been being owned by the family of Mme Angle since 1879.

The whole production process is controlled by Jean Baptiste Bourotte, owner of Clos du Clocher, Château Bonalgue, Château du Courlat et al, assisted by Michel Rolland’s team. Winemaking parcel by parcel and maceration of 4-5 weeks in thermo regulated cement vats. The wines spends 12 months in 40% new oak barrels, 1 and 2 year old barrels for the remainder.
