2005 Ch Coutet, 1er Cru Classe Barsac, Sauternes HALVES 12x37.5cl

Tasting Notes

"92 Points, Neal Martin (Wine Advocate): "Tasted single blind at Southwold. Much lighter on the nose. Passion fruit, white peach and nectarine, then a hint of white flowers. The palate has a good level of botrytis, quite minerally, nice tension with dried apricot and spicy, quince flavours coming through on the linear finish. Time should mellow this out. Excellent. Drink 2012-2025. Tasted January 2009.""

Vineyard Information

Barsac's largest classed growth property with 38.5 hectares under vine, until 1922 the estate was owned by the Lur-Saluces family of Chateau d'Yquem fame. Traditionally a close second to Barsac's other First Growth, Chateau Climens, Coutet has been on a rich run of form recently with outstanding vintages produced in the noughties. The blend usually comprises roughly 80% Semillon with the remainder Sauvignon Blanc.
