"It has the rich, generous texture on the palate that good Barbera offers. The nose is sour cherry, lavender and leather but, on the palate, it has flavours of 'smokey' cassis, strawberry, mocha and vanilla. It has that classic Italian balance of acidity and fruit."
Pino (Giuseppe) and Mauro Pavia have 10 hectares on clay soil at between 200 and 280 metres above sea level. The vines are between fifteen and fifty years old. Their entry level Barbera d’Asti DOCG Casareggio is superb - aged partly in stainless steel and partly in botte, and bottled in May following the harvest.
