A dusting of cocoa powder gives way to blood orange and dried black cherries as the 2018 Amarone della Valpolicella smolders up from the glass. It's velvety smooth yet lifted and refined, with a polished wave of mineral-drenched wild berry fruits complicated by a bitter tinge of dark chocolate and balsamic spice. This leaves a mentholated freshness and a tart hint of clove, finishing long and structured with saturating tannins that clamp down hard. The 2018 is intense yet possesses amazing balance. Vineyard Information

Marco Sartori is a driven young man. In a few short years he has gone from making his first vintage to becoming one of the hottest new talents in the region. All the wines produced by this modern new winery are world-class. Marco’s philosophy is very simple; reduce the yield in the vineyard to 1kg per vine and you obtain fabulous fruit concentration.

The estate comprises 13 hectares of vineyard with a total production of only 38,000 bottles per annum. The vines are grown in volcanic soils.

The grapes were dried until the first week of December. The fermentation and maceration followed, taking place in tank and lasting for 30 days. Once the alcoholic fermentation was finished, the juice was then transferred to French oak barriques of which 50% were new, for a period of 24 months. This was followed by 18 months in bottle, prior to release.
