Château de Malle dates back to 1540, and has always been in the same family: 5 generations of de Malle, 6 of de Lur-Saluces and 3 of de Bournazel. This 200 hectare estate is unusual in that it overlaps both the Sauternes and Graves appellations (where both red and white wines are produced). Malle was included among the great growths of Sauternes in the 1855 classification. Its light sandy and gravelly soil produces fruity, attractive wines. These are quite aromatic when young, with hints of ripe apricot, linden flower, and acacia honey. Château de Malle is a rich, distinguished Sauternes. The wine is fairly light in style without any heaviness. It often closes up temporarily after 5 or 6 years and
reaches its prime after 10 years in bottle. ©ugcb
