Château Canon-la-Gaffelière (formerly La Gaffelière-Boitard), has been recognised for centuries as one of the finest growths in Saint-Emilion. Count von Neipperg, scion of a family with eight centuries of winegrowing tradition, bought this estate in 1971. His son Stephan is currently in charge of managing the estate. A renaissance has since occurred at Canon-la-Gaffelière after several years of major efforts involving large-scale investments. All of this has been done with an indepth understanding of the special nature of the soil. The wine is made in an ultra-modern vat room with wooden fermenting vats.
