"Joe Czerwinski, The Wine Advocate 90-92 Points
The 2022 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc was being bottled on the day I visited last summer, so my note is based on a sample pulled from the bottling tank. Aged in 40% new French oak, it's toasty and leesy, a plush, opulent style that faithfully reflects the vintage. It's full-bodied and loaded with pineapple fruit, which may be a bit much for some tasters, but it finishes soft, pure and harmonious, a lovely effort. Drink Date 2024 - 2026"
Domaine de la Charbonnière has 12 hectares of prime vineyard in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and 4.5 hectares in Vacqueyras. This is a top quality domaine making rich, succulent wines of great style. Michel Maret has now handed over the running of the property to his daughters. Véronique is the winemaker and sister Caroline is in charge of the office. Veronique is lending a feminine touch. The wines have always been superb but there is a new fresh elegance.
As well as four different cuvées of red Châteauneuf, they produce an excellent Châteauneuf du Pape Blanc, now one of the best in the region, made from 40% Roussanne, 40% Grenache Blanc and 20% Clairette.
