"This charmingly traditional Barolo is elegantly transparent in colour but also decidedly robust, savoury and chewy, and envelops with its kaleidoscopic scent of rose, violet, morello cherry, earth and leather. DBM Christmas favourite!"
Cabutto dates back to the 1920s with the purchase of the “Tenuta La Volta” farmhouse where the winery is currently based and around which most of the estate’s 20 hectares lie. Purchased directly from the Marquis of Mirafiori, the nephew of Vittorio Emanuele II, these are some of Barolo’s finest. Another high priest of tradition, Cabutto makes just a single Barolo blended from vineyards in the communes of Barolo, La Morra and Novello. It would be wrong, however, to associate tradition with obstinance: s/s, temperature control and automation still sit alongside the basket presses and sorting tables.
