The 2020 Corton-Bressandes Grand Cru is the one cuvée that had slight suggestions of some over-ripe fruit , though minor and this could be subsumed with bottle age. The palate is well balanced and here, I could not find any sur-maturité, but a sensual, velvety texture and a touch of spiciness towards the harmonious finish that is blurred by a little warmth of alcohol, a whopping 15.0° in this cuvée."
Domaine Tollot-Beaut has sat modestly in the centre of Chorey-Lès-Beaune since it was set up by the Tollot family in the 1930s. Nathalie Tollot is the most welcoming of hosts and her wines are among the most consistent in Burgundy. The wines are beautifully open in style with rich, generous fruit flavours and judicious use of new oak. They are poised wines with great depth and elegance.
Corton is perhaps Burgundy's most visually impressive Grand Cru, a freestanding hill that overlooks the rest of the Cote de Beaune. Corton-Bressandes is a famous, east-facing parcel of this mighty Grand Cru with a limestone-rich terroir giving highly expressive, firm, and powerful wines. Often rated as one of the very best sites on the hill of Corton. These wines have immense concentration.
Along with most estates in Burgundy, 2020 is the earliest harvest on record for Tollot-Beaut, necessitated by an early start to the growing season and the quick ripening that occurred in August. The health of the fruit and the cool nights leading into harvest kept the fruit fresh and vigorous, whilst the warm dry conditions encouraged thick skins that give the wines excellent structure and suggest they will age well if you choose to cellar them.
