"It is one of the taut, very dry, mineral and straightforward Sancerre. The nose is expressive and lively with notes of broom, rhubarb and nuances of dried fruit and almonds. The attack in the mouth is round and smooth with aromas of citrus fruits and white flowers."
Crochet is a well-known name in Sancerre, with many branches of the family producing wines under different labels. Jean-Marc and his son Mathieu have been working together since 2007 and we are particularly keen on the precision and finesse they achieve in their wines. Their cellars are in Bué, a charming "Sancerrois" village surrounded by vineyards on hills forming a natural amphitheatre. Their vineyards are mainly on the higher hillsides where there is clay mixed with the limestone which Jean-Marc is convinced brings an extra complexity of spices to the intense mineral character.
The Sauvignon Blanc that is grown here is famous for precision, elegance and intensity. Everything is handpicked and carefully selected, both in the vineyard and again at the winery which is equipped with the latest technology and temperature controlled vats.
