"Julia Harding MW (Jancis Robinson) 17/20
Barrel sample. Mid crimson, a little darker than some. Darker fruited too, though there is some oak sweetness – more vanilla than spice – and pure red fruits with a hint of violets. A little more open than their Chambolles Charmes. There’s real depth here, depth of fruit and compact but smooth tannins to perfectly frame that fruit. Compact and elegant at the same time Nov 2019"
In 2007 Erwan Faiveley took over the reins of the firm from his father Francois and the generational change has had an electrifying effect on the company. Investment has been made across the company in the form of new vineyard holdings, updated winemaking equipment and replacement of tired old barrels with high quality new oak. Over the past 6 years the team have really found their feet and the quality here is striking – this is not wine made to a recipe, there is a proper respect for the character of each appellation and the wines are a joy to drink.
Domaine Faiveley traces its history back to 1823 and through seven generations they have built up an exceptional vineyard portfolio including 50 hectares in Côte de Nuits, 15 in Côte de Beaune and 75 in Côte Chalonnaise. Indeed the latest addition of 20 ha in Gevrey Chambertin was added as recently as October 2013.
The "Les Fuées" parcel is situated in the North of the village, just after Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru.
