2017 Cabernet Sauvignon, Baron Philippe de Rothschild, Vin de Pays d'Oc
"Deep colour with striking black fruit on the nose, good layers of soft ripe fruit with pleasing back bone and good length"
The backbone of this cuvée is sourced from Domaine Baron’arques young vine Cabernet grown on gravelly soil. Very hot days and cool nights in September helped the grapes reach full maturity. 2017 is considered a very good vintage, with low yields due to successive frosts, drought and some local hailstorms, but excellent quality.
The Baron Philippe de Rothschild own label range has been developed by the family to bring good value drinking wines to the table by utilising their extensive wine making contacts in the Limoux region. To source the fruit they have developed strong relationships with local growers and in many instances they incorporate young vine fruit from their Domaine Baron’arques.
