"Fiona Beckett recommended in Guardian: "Bordeaux, I have to admit, does spring the odd surprise. Supermarkets are not the place to look for them – you really need to go to a specialist indie such as Davis Bell McCraith, 40% of whose sales come from the area, most of which it imports direct. It sold out of the wine I was going to recommend to you in three days flat, but will hopefully still have some of the haut-médoc below. Left-bank bargains are harder to find than right bank, but this is a great price for a mellow bordeaux with a bit of age.""
Located 4 km to the North of Margaux, the Château Tour du Roc vineyard, property of the Robert family for many generations, covers 12 hectares of well exposed gravelly hilltops. The maturation in oak barrels give to this Haut-Médoc wine quality and great ageing capacity.
Attractive deep colour with frank red highlights. On the nose, the bouquet is charming and spicy. Initially very full on the palate with fine tannic structure, typical of the Haut-Médoc gravelly soil. Long finish with full, robust fruit.
