"Attractive traditional St Emilion, this is bold and fleshy with traditional St Emilion elegance and lovely flavour. Really enjoyable. Gold Medal Paris 2014"
The fine Grand Cru estate of Château de Lisse is one of the oldest estates in Saint-Emilion, dating back to 1584. The tiny vineyard is planted with 85% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon and the vines average about 40 years of age (although some of their Merlot parcels are more than 60 years old). Located in the cooler soils found in the Saint Etienne De Lisse sector of St. Emilion, they are not far from the highly-prized estates Chateau Peby-Faugeres, Fleur Cardinale and Valandraud - yet De Lisse remains far more affordable than its better known neighbours... making it an unmissable bargain.
