2014 Lapa Dos Gaivões Tinto, JM Barbosa, Alentejo
Deep garnet in colour with concentrated fruits and minerals in the aromatics. Intense with lively acidity on the palate, firm tannins and elegant fruit that carries on a long, persistent finish.
Joao Barbosa comes from generations of family deeply rooted in the wine industry. Bearing the same name as his grandfather and being the oldest of grandsons, Joao demonstrated from an early age a natural passion for wine and dedication to wine production. In 1997 Joao founded his current initiative, Joao M Barbosa, and extended his dream of creating fine wines. Drawing on many years of personal experience; the aim is to produce wines that respect regionality and achieve quality expected from discerning wine lovers and connoisseurs. Bringing unique experiences, new grape varieties and blends to the region has provided surprising results which are portrayed in the concept of the (im)possible “blue rose” emblem. With 6.5ha of vineyards in Alto da Serra, Tejo and 10ha in Esperanca, Alentejo our flagship wines Ninfa and Lapa dos Gaivoes wines are made exclusively from estate grown grapes expressing individual and authentic expressions of origin. Since the first harvest our entire family and friends continue to collaborate and bring in each vintage which we believe gives our wines their own unique genetic code.
