"A toasty aroma slowly giving way to a very structured core of black cherry, currant, iron and black olive notes. There's lots of grilled herb and mineral on the finish, with good underlying finish."
Domaine Couly-Dutheil are based in the town of Chinon, at the heart of the appellation. The family have only been in the wine-making business since 1921, which can seem quite short in this part of the world. But their reputation is extending far and wide; they have some extremely fine vineyards and produce some fabulous wine. Chinon is also a style of wine which rarely gets a chance to age as long as it deserves and the Clos de l`Echo has the quality, stuffing and density for a very long life.
