The Château du Souzy was built in 1765 by a middle class family from Lyon. The ownership is now shared between Marc Chetaille, Stephen Maton and Richard Chagny and the estate has 25 acres of vines of Gamay grapes.
At harvest the grapes are hand-picked in bunches and then carefully sorted again at the cellars. Utilizing the traditional methods of Beaujolais the grapes macerate at controlled temperatures to preserve the best flavours and characteristics of the grapes. After seven days in tanks the grapes are then pneumatically pressed to bring out the essence of the grapes.
