This estate boasts 9 hectares, all on La Madone, and an immaculate small winery. Jean-Marc Despres, brother-in-law of Jean-Louis Dutraive of Domaine de la Grand'Cour, makes very fine, silky expressions of Fleurie. The Vieilles Vignes cuvee is the flagship wine of the estate and all the fruit for this bottling is sourced from 60 year old vines situated in the 'Grille Midi' micro-climate, a granite amphitheatre bathed in sunshine. It is believed that the name derives from the intense heat the area gets at midday; the old vine fruit bestows on the wine fragrances of ripe fruit and spices and a lovely silky texture and it can easily be kept 5 or 6 years, such is its impeccable balance and structure.
