"A pretty translucent dark ruby, the nose is gentle with a lovely fragrance of fresh crunchy Cabernet Franc matched to dark red Merlot. This old school Lalande de Pomerol is a graceful wine with fine texture and beautifully integrated tannins and mouth watering length. At only 13.5% this is delightfully refreshing and immediately approachable, yet has the balance to age well for a further 5 to 8 years. A blend of 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet franc, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Aidan Bell"
Château Pierrefitte is produced by the team at Ch Perron located in the heart of the plateau near the Lalande de Pomerol church. The estate has been owned by Michel Massonie since 1958 and is now managed by his talented son Bertrand. The family properties are enjoying a renaissance under Bertrand and starting to attract attention. One of the top wines in the appellation and a rising star of the Right Bank.
The vineyards of Lalande de Pomerol were first planted in the 12th century by the Knights Templar and the appellation is immediately north of Pomerol, in fact the two appellations are only separated by the Barbanne, a small stream.
