"Fine aromas of white flowers, the palate has delicious peach and pear notes. A generous, layered wine with plenty of energy and freshness. Well-defined and complete with a long fine finish. 100% of the wine is aged in oak, but older barrels to bring complexity rather than overt oakiness. Vincent also keeps the wine in his cellar for 2 winters before it is bottled, allowing it to gain in texture and balance"
Based in Auxey Duresses, Vincent Prunier has quietly established a fine reputation for himself. Starting out in 1988 when he inherited 2 hectares from his parents, his Domaine now extends to 13 hectares in the Cote de Beaune with vineyards in Puligny, Chassagne, Meursault, Saint Aubin and of course Auxey-Duresses. Vincent has long advocated ploughing his vineyards to encourage deeper roots which in turn enables vines to capture the complexity and "terroir" of each site.
"Among growers, a little-known yet superb producer is young Vincent Prunier in Auxey-Duresses. Vincent Prunier works in a small winery behind his modest home. His winemaking is ideal: fresh, pure, free of extraneous oakiness and concentrated. Supplies are limited, but because he's largely unheralded, prices are reasonable." Matt Kramer, Los Angeles Times.
