Robert Parker 93/100
The 2001 El Bugader is one of the finest Syrah-based offerings I have tasted from Spain. An 8,000-bottle blend of 95% Syrah and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, aged 18 months in new French oak, it possesses an inky/black/purple color in addition to a sumptuous perfume of spring flowers, creme de cassis, and blackberries. Heady and intense, with low acidity as well as a fleshy, full-bodied, powerful mouthfeel, it should be enjoyed during its first 7-8 years of life. Impressive! 26th Apr 2004 - 152, The Wine Advocate
Tobelos Garnacha Crianza, Rioja
"Alluring nose with aromas of ripe damsons and cherries. There is an incredible purity and intensity to the fruit on the palate, which is at the same time juicy and complex – an indication of the age of these vines. The oak is very well handled adding structure that does not over power the fruit. Tannins are silky and the finish has lovely freshness. Intense yet elegant and very long".
This 100% Garnacha Crianza is made from 60 year old, very low yielding vines, from two specific vineyard plots and only produced in exceptional years.
Bodegas y Viñedos Tobelos is the first bodega you arrive at on entering the denominación of Rioja from the north. It is located in the small village of Brinas with famous neighbours including Roda, Muga, Tondonia, Rioja Alta and Cune. The style of the wines at Tobelos sits between classical Rioja elegance and finesse, but with a nod to the more modern fruit driven style.
